Ursula Schreck Obituary

Ursula A. Schreck, 90, fell asleep in death peacefully Jan. 28, 2026, at home with family at her side. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 170 Mercers Fernery Road in DeLand.
Born April 25, 1935, in Lódz, Poland, to Karl and Lidia Schultz, Ursula was the oldest of three children growing up during the hardships of World War II, where she learned responsibility early while helping care for her younger brothers. In 1952, her family immigrated to the United States.
Ursula later attended nursing school and became a licensed practical nurse, beginning a lifelong path of caregiving.
She met Roman Schreck and was married July 28, 1956, and she became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1957.
Ursula was baptized Jan. 27, 1962, as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life.
In 1972, Usrula moved from East Orange, New Jersey, to DeLand, to help her parents on KAS Farms off North Ridgewood Avenue, collecting eggs daily, while continuing her work as a nurse and, later, becoming the sole caregiver for both parents.
Ursula was known as a strong and hardworking woman, who loved her yard, sewing, crocheting and caring for her family. She will be remembered for her determination, deep faith, and the love she gave to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Tanya; her husband of 48 years, Roman Schreck; her brothers, Karl and Peter Schultz; and her grandsons, Joshua and Jonathan Allen. She is survived by her children Tammy Schreck, Roman Schreck Jr., Alita Allen, Karen Dorsey and Joel Schreck; five beloved granddaughters, Rachel Schreck, Brianna Anders, Daniella Koontz, Larissa Nielsen and Jonica Guiler; and her 11 precious great-grandchildren.
Allen-Summerhill is in charge.
