V. Grant Wagy

Victor Grant Wagy, 63, passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at his home in Effingham, surrounded by his loved ones.

Grant was born on July 16, 1961, in Effingham, a son of Victor Ward Wagy and Rowena (Schmidt). He grew up in Newton, IL, where he graduated from high school in 1979. Grant worked at World Color Press, then became partners in Wyckoff / Wagy Construction. Most recently he was sole owner of the construction company. Grant was always eager to assist customers with their dreams. He was taking calls up till the end, saying he was feeling sick, but maybe in a couple weeks he could help with the project. He never met a stranger because he would always have a smile and greet them with warmth.
On March 21, 1985, Grant married Debra Lehnartz. Together they shared two daughters and four grandchildren. Grant enjoyed years of coaching girls' summer league softball, while himself participating in men's slow pitch softball. Grant was an avid sports fan, especially of his grandson Dylan's trap and skeet shoot competitions.
Grant's favorite past times were spending time with his grandchildren while camping, hunting, and fishing. He was always the master griller for any occasion. His model trains display was enjoyed by many admirers.
Grant was preceded in death by his parents, and two brother-in-laws, Norbert Wagner and Charles Sanders.
He is survived by his siblings: Marsha Wagner (Effingham), Rahel Wagy and spouse Connie (Newton, IL), Genie Sanders (Terre Haute, IN), Chris Wagy and spouse Jan (Robinson, IL), Jay Wagy and spouse Vonda (Yale, IL), and Dodie Brody (Newton, IL).
Grant leaves behind his wife, his daughter Nicole Blunt and spouse Ryan, and daughter Kristen Wagy; his grandchildren: Ashton Blunt and fiancée Emma Grace, Beau Blunt, Dylan Hetzer, and Cole Wagy.
Grant was blessed for the last 10 years by having Dylan and Cole live with him and Debra. Being a family brought him much joy and happiness.
