Val Dufner was born to Jacob and Leona (Roering) Dufner on April 27, 1934 at St. Martin, MN. He was united in marriage to Theresa Frank on May 30, 1960 at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in St. Nicholas. He farmed at Watkins until his retirement in 2003. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the Watkins American Legion Post 453. He was a member of the St. Nicholas Catholic church and served as an usher. He was also a member of the St. Nicholas Men's Society, Watkins Senior Citizens, Watkins Lions Club and the Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of the Eden Valley – Watkins school board, the Watkins Sportsmen's Club and the NRA. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, bowling and playing cards. Val enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Val is survived by his children and their spouses, David and Mayen Dufner of Albertville, Donald and Stacy Dufner of Belleville, IL, Dale Dufner and his friend, Janet Kuechle of Watkins, Dennis and Lisa Dufner of Cold Spring, Deanna and Robert Kulzer of Farming, Daniel Dufner of Waite Park, Debra and Dan Goebel of St. Martin, Dean and Nancy Dufner of Cold Spring; daughter-in-law, Sharla Dufner of Watkins; 32 grandchildren; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Allen and Donna Dufner of Melrose, Ginny and Tom Borgerding of Melrose, Ronald and Dorothy Dufner of Albany, Darlene and John Borgerding of Leesburg, Fl, Diane and Jerry Christen of Sauk Centre, Mary June and Roger Pundsack of Melrose; sister-in-law, Diane Machtmes of Paynesville; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Theresa; sons, Duane, Darren and Douglas; brother, Jim Dufner.
