Valda Lorine Carter Stanley – January 22, 1948, to July 13, 2025.
Born in Hattiesburg to Lonnie and Essie Carter, Lorine graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a degree in education. On June 7, 1969, she married Harold Wayne Stanley of Brooklyn, MS. She retired from Gulfport High School after many years as US History educator.
Lorine is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Essie Carter; her brother, Thomas Carter, Sr.; her in-laws, Harold and Voncile “Bonnie” Stanley; and her brother-in-law Bubba Dukes.
She is survived by her husband, Harold; daughters, Jennifer Rawls (Johnathan) and Rebecca Templet (Robert); sisters, Margaret Cameron and Nellie Dukes. Lorine is also survived by grandchildren, Tanner Rawls, Benjamin Templet, and Preston Templet; and step-grandchildren Ariel House (Gaige), Autum Hollingsworth (Bailey), and Jacquelyn James (Hunter Carver); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12 until 1 PM Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Riemann Family Funeral Gulfport. The funeral service will follow at 1 PM with Eric Smith officiating. Burial will be at Biloxi National Cemetery.
