Valeeta Rose DeLong, 58, of Syracuse, New York, passed away on November 13, 2025. She was born on April 28, 1967, and lived a life defined by love, dedication, and an unshakeable spirit.
Valeeta worked as a medical receptionist at Crouse Medical Practice, where she greeted everyone with warmth, compassion, and her unforgettable smile. She took pride in her work and gave her all to those she served, always going the extra mile to make others feel cared for.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Macheda and Francis DeLong; her stepfather, Lee DeLong Sr.; and her sister, Cindy DeLong.
Valeeta is survived by her daughters, Carre Chapman and Cassandra Ward; her grandchildren, Jariel Martinez, Kadin Blackshear, David Johnson, Brandon Silva, Amari Chapman, Xavier Chapman, Antonio Vallejo Jr., and Natalie Vallejo. She is also survived by her sisters, Barbara Dunn, Darlene Scott, Wendy Miller, and Denise Jandreau; her brothers, John DeLong, Lee DeLong, Dennis DeLong, and Rick Macheada; her stepmother, Annitta Fee- Macheda; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Those who knew Valeeta knew her heart of gold and strength of steel. She was a fiercely loving mother and grandmother, always putting others first and doing everything in her power to make sure the people she cared about were okay. Her smile lit up every room she entered, and her vibrant personality brought joy and laughter wherever she went. Spicy, honest, and unapologetically herself, Valeeta’s presence left a mark that can never be replaced.
She dedicated her life to her family and her work, and the love she gave so freely will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her. Valeeta will be deeply, profoundly missed.
May her memory be a source of comfort and strength.
