In Loving Memory of Valentin Martinez Rivera
February 14, 1976 – October 29, 2024
Valentin Martinez Rivera passed peacefully from this life on October 29, 2024, surrounded by the love he so freely gave to others. Born on Valentine's Day, his life embodied love in its purest forms-selfless, steadfast, and deeply generous. Valentin was preceded in death by his father, Ricardo Rivera; grandparents Francisca Martinez and Enrique Martinez, and Victor Rivera and Maria Ester Ura Trevino; and his brother-in-law, James Roberson. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 28 years, Brande Rivera, daughters Valerie Cipriano (and her husband, Larry Cipriano), and Devan Rivera; sons James Roberson III and Christian Roberson; and his beautiful granddaughter, Ellie Cipriano, who was the light of his life. Valentin is also survived by his mother, Cleotilde Ura, and his dad, Jesse Ura, as well as his brothers Ricardo Rivera and Jesse Ura Jr., his sister Monica Ura, his mother-in-law Glena Watson, and countless friends and family members who cherished him.
It's hard to capture the essence of a man like Valentin in words. He was a servant at heart, whose kindness and strength lifted others in countless ways. A talented mechanic by trade, he used his God given talents to help those around him, always willing to lend a hand, day or night, with unending patience, persistence and generosity. Valentin built a life centered on family and filled with love. Every day, he poured his energy into creating a home that was safe, beautiful, and full of joy. His granddaughter, Ellie, brought him indescribable happiness, and his love for her was boundless.
Valentin was a man who thrived in nature. He found joy in fishing, paintball, and any activity that brought him into the great outdoors. But his true passion was traveling with his family, creating lasting memories and sharing in life's adventures. His absence leaves an unfillable void-not only within his family but also among his church family, workplace, and community. Valentin's life was a gift to all who knew him, and though he may no longer be with us, his legacy of love, service, and strength will live on in the hearts of all he touched. We will never be the same without him.
We will leave you with these words of wisdom from Valentin "Friends don't let friends buy Fords" and "Cowboys need to get rid of Jerry Jones"
