Valeria Ammons-King

Dr. Valeria Ammons- King, born December 17, 1953, in Milwaukee, WI, passed away on November 27, 2024 in Newport News, VA. Her life was defined by her generosity, unwavering love, and limitless compassion for her family, friends and those she met and cared for along the way.
Valeria, or Val to those who knew her, devoted her life to caring for others. She earned a Medical Degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1988 and worked as a Physician for 25 years, specializing in Family Medicine. She leaves behind a legacy of professionalism and dedication to giving patients the utmost standard of compassion and care.
Her personal relationship with the Lord began at a young age, and she found a place of love and spiritual growth as a member of Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk, VA. While a member there, she was able to continue to pour into others by supporting small businesses, helping to establish a home for young mothers, encouraging others, and sharing her joy, laughter, and faith wherever she could.
She is preceded in death by her father, Oscar King, and her brother Oscar. She is survived by her daughter, Vaughnery Oliver, Son-in-law, Marc, grandchildren, Lakaiah Robinson and Stephen Oliver, her loving mother, Dorothy King, sister, Carol Williams (Lee), and Brothers, Clifford (Eva) and Vernon. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews, Brandon (Karen and their children), LaTonya Thompson (Andrew), Travis (Keyona and their son), Jason (and his children), Javis (and his son), Stephanie (and her children), Stacy, Clifford, and many others who loved her and will carry her memory forward.
Valeria King's life is a testament to the power of compassion, selflessness, and love. Her memory and spirit will continue to inspire those who knew and loved her. She is and will be immensely missed.
