Valeria L. Varrecchione, of Smithfield, passed away on August 22, 2025, in Providence, Rhode Island. Born on July 13, 1950, in Macchiagodena, Italy, to the late Michael and Michelina (Iapaolo) Czerniawski. She proudly emigrated to the United States with her family in 1951. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Rhode Island before dedicating her professional life to serving others through her work with the State of Rhode Island Department of Human Services.
Known for her vibrant personality, Valeria lit up every room she entered. Her infectious sense of humor and vivacious spirit made her the life of the party. She had a remarkable ability to connect with others, relishing the opportunity to learn about their lives and accomplishments. She loved a good cup of coffee and conversation.
Family was central to Valeria’s world. She spent countless cherished moments alongside her devoted husband, Frank A. Varrecchione, Jr., with whom she shared nearly 53 years of marriage. Together, they had three children and six grandchildren. Valeria was a proud mother to Frank M. Varrecchione, Jeffrey Varrecchione (Rebecca), and Jennifer Irons (Nathan). She was "Nonna" to Michelina Irons, Dean Michael Varrecchione, Isabella Varrecchione, Emma Varrecchione, Gabriella Varrecchione, and Jefriana Varrecchione. She loved her grandchildren more than anything in the world. She was so proud of them. She was always the loudest fan at their sporting events. Everyone knew when Nonna was at a game and she loved it.
Valeria had a special relationship with her sisters, Andrea Finelli (Richard) Rose Giuliano (Richard), and Fernanda Vaslet (Gregory), as well as her brother-in-law Anthony Varrecchione (Margie) and many nieces and nephews.
Valeria’s devotion to her faith guided her through life, shaping her values and nurturing her relationships. To know Nonna, was to love Nonna.
