Valerie “Val” Jean (Clayton) Seamons, 61, of Hailey, Idaho, passed away unexpectedly on August 22, 2025, surrounded by close friends and family, due to complications from a stroke.
Born March 11, 1964, in Burley to Bill and Jean Clayton, Val grew up in Hailey, where she was known for her kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit. She graduated from Wood River High School in 1982, attended the University of Idaho, and later earned her business degree from Idaho State University.
In 1987, she married David Seamons, and together they raised two sons, Trent and Nathan. Val worked in accounting and retired from the Blaine County School District in 2024 after 21 years of service.
Val cherished the outdoors—camping, boating, snowmobiling, and later making memories at the family cabin in Pine. She had a gift for bringing people together, and her smile and laughter lit up every gathering. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend whose love was felt by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, David; her sons, Trent (Tiffany) and Nathan; her grandson, Travis James (TJ); and her brother, Wayne Clayton. She was preceded in death by her parents and her father-in-law.
A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 preceding the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at The Community Campus auditorium (1050 Fox Acres Rd, Hailey, ID). Burial will follow at Hailey Cemetery, with a luncheon and celebration of life back at the Community Campus. In keeping with her spirit, Val wouldn’t want anyone to feel they had to wear black—please come as you are, in whatever feels right and comfortable to you.
Though her time here was far too short, Val’s legacy of love and kindness will endure. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Pine Senior Center (350 N Pine-Featherville Road, Pine, ID 83647) in support of a community she cherished, the Blaine County Education Foundation in honor of her love of books, or your local humane society in recognition of her lifelong love of dogs.
