William Williams

William Frank Williams, know as “Bill” died at home in Star on August 9, 2025 after a short battle with cancer.

Bill was born in Buhl, ID on May 29, 1942, with his twin sister, to J. Raymond and Alma Freund Williams and was the first son. He was the sixth child in a family that grew to ten, which included 3 sets of twins.

When Bill was 4 years old his family moved to Bellevue, Idaho after the death of his mother and his grandmother, Gertrude Williams, took on the job of helping raise the 10 children.

Shortly after the move, Bill contracted polio and was sent to a hospital in Boise and luckily recovered and was able to return to the ranch.

In the early 1950’s Bill’s father remarried and 2 stepsiblings and eventually a half sister were added to the family. The family home was full and the ranch was busy!

Bill attended school in Bellevue for 12 years, graduating in 1960. He participated in several school activities while still working on the family ranch. While in high school he joined the National Guard and served for four years.

On July 31, 1965 Bill and Janet Moran were married in Bellevue Community Church and had been married 60 years and 9 days before his death. Their children, Andrea and Eric, were born while they lived in Bellevue. He worked as a miner, various jobs at Sun Valley and a carpenter during this time. He joined the Odd Fellows Lodge in Bellevue and was an active member for many years.

Eventually, Bill started working in construction and In 1973 he moved his family to Washoe Valley, Nevada where he began his career in earnest. When he retired in 2009 he had worked in 10 states and 7 countries, from the beaches of St. Croix and St. Thomas to the war zones of Afghanistan and Iraq, on various projects with various large companies.

During his career and in retirement Bill and Jan were able to travel and see many places in the USA and the world.

After retiring to Star, Idaho, Bill enjoyed fishing, his large and productive garden, fishing, reading, and fishing!!! Fishing at almost any time, winter or summer, with almost anyone who wanted to go with him, and some who didn’t really want to fish but went along to be with him.

Bill is survived by his wife, Janet, son Eric(Melissa), grandson Tyler Williams, granddaughter Sydney Williams, his twin sister, Wilma Schmitt, sisters Barbara Gorringe, Karen Hudson, Myra Eichelberger and half-sister Marsha Kriley plus extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Andrea, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and a stepbrother and stepsister.

Bill will be remembered by his family and friends for his willingness to help with any project and his kind heart. He was a true gentleman with a wonderful sense of humor, a good joke for every occasion and his skill at the BBQ.

Services for Bill will be on August 23rd with a viewing at the Wood River Chapel from 10am-noon, followed by graveside service at the Bellevue Cemetery at 1pm.
