Vance Ellis Overton

October 28, 1953 – March 27, 2026

Vance Ellis Overton passed away on March 27, 2026, at the age of 72.

He is survived by his life companion, Angie Broussard of Maurice, Louisiana; her daughters, Emily Broussard Richard and her husband Sean Richard and Anna Seither and her partner Alex Lirette, all of Lafayette.

He experienced so much joy and complete silliness with his grandsons who may not have been through blood, but he thought of and loved them as his own; when they were babies, their favorite place for a nap was on his chest. He will be remembered as a freestyle gardener with a green thumb, a dog and cat whisperer, foodie, lover of Hallmark Christmas movies, chief dishwasher, and versatile handyman.

Van died in the comfort of his home with Angie by his side and the compassionate care of Heart of Hospice Care. Their team was a blessing to us during such a difficult time, and each went above and beyond. Van loved them too. We would like to give special thanks to Ali Andrus, RN, Dyjanera, CNA, and Social Workers Mary Ogé and Amanda Fuselier.

Van grew up in New Orleans. His parents, Eunice Mary Smith and Vance Allen Overton, and one sister Karen Griffin, died long ago. He has one living brother, Charles "Chuck" Overton, of Diamondhead, MS.

A private celebration of Van's life will be held at a later time.
