Vane Oliver Long, 67, of Rayville, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Liberty Hospital.
Vane was born on January 5, 1954, in Doe Run, Missouri, the son of the James Long and Maxine (Trezise) Long. He is survived by his wife, Amy Elliott of the home.
Vane is survived by his son, Lewis Long, of Rayville and daughter, Mindy Boyce of Florida; brothers, Raymond Long, Paul Long, Lacy Long, Michael Long, John Manbeck; and sisters Joyce Janes, Gail Goza; and 5 grandchildren.
Vane and Amy shared a love for each other for over 29 years. They were united in marriage in Miami, Oklahoma at Lavern's Wedding Chapel on April 29th, 2021. Vane was a gentleman and loving husband, always opening the car door for Amy and doing sweet things for her. He called Amy baby doll, they were soulmates. Vane retired from Ford Motor Company in Claycomo, Missouri. He worked there for 26.5 years as a team leader in the trim department on the 6th line. Vane enjoyed eating at Wabash BBQ in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. He liked hunting morel mushrooms. Vane was a very caring person, he liked to help people.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Lath Branch Cemetery outside of Fort Scott Kansas. where his wife Amy has her final resting place, he wanted to be beside her.
