Vanessa R. Appel

Vanessa R. Appel, 69, formerly of Drumore, passed away at Newport Meadows Health and Rehabilitation on Thursday, October 5, 2023. She was the loving wife of the late David E. Appel, sharing 29 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2022.
Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late John F. and Mary E. (Reidenbach) Kelley.
Vanessa was a graduate of Pequea Valley High School, class of 1972. Following high school, she worked for several hotels and motels in housekeeping and laundry, served as the housekeeping supervisor at Hershey Farms Inn, and worked for the Amish Barn Restaurant. In her spare time, Vanessa enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino to play slot machines. She especially enjoyed relaxing in front of a fire and having gatherings with her family.
She is survived by her sons, John D. Trimble, Jr., husband of Debra, of Manheim, and Joshua E. Trimble, husband of Rachel, of Quarryville; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Meckley, of Strasburg; 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, James L. Kelley and Michael P. Trimble, a brother, Gus Miller, and sisters, Mary E. Prokay and Dorothy Miller.
Services and interment will be private.
