MARBLEHEAD- Vanessa Chittenden Schoellkopf, 26, of Marblehead, daughter of Spring Schoellkopf and Mark Allen of Marblehead, died on June 2nd, 2016. Vanessa was born in Boston and lived the first seven years of her life in Marblehead before moving to Buffalo, New York. It was there that Vanessa became a well-known National Elite gymnast, under the tutelage of George Gorgoi, former coach of Nadia Comaneci. Vanessa continued her training with Valerie Liukin, coach of Nastia Liukin, of Plano, Texas. Vanessa retired from gymnastics after sustaining an intractable shoulder injury. Vanessa moved to West Virginia with her family, and attended Randolph Macon Academy, Junior ROTC Air Force Academy in Roanoke, Va. from which she graduated in 2009. She received an academic scholarship from Norwich University, and completed one year in Vermont. After her academic life she studied cosmetology and earned her license in three states: Virginia, Maine, and Massachusetts. She worked for PR Partners, Pro Cuts, Aveda, and Fringe salons. Vanessa was a talented artist, devoted daughter, and loving sister to three siblings-Leslie Francis, Bryn and Austin Allen. ARRANGEMENTS: A memorial service will be announced at a later date via social media. Spring,
I am sooooo sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you. I cannot begin to imagine what you are going through but if it is any consolation she lives on. I believe this life here is a blink of time in the universe. She did what could on this planet now she is back in the expansive universe. It is always hardest for those remaining here. I send you lots of love and am thinking of you,
Love
