Vanessa Davis Obituary
Vanessa Lyn Davis, a proud patriot and retired U.S. Navy veteran, passed away on Monday, November 20th, 2023, at the age of 58. Vanessa's parents were Virginia Wilson and Sonny and Lera Fields. Vanessa's life was marked by a deep sense of duty, love for her family, and a passion for craftsmanship. During her honorable service in the U.S. Navy, Vanessa distinguished herself, earning the prestigious Navy "E" Ribbon Meritorious Unit Commendations. It was during her time in the Navy that Vanessa acquired the skill of carpentry, a talent she carried with her throughout her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her daughter, Stephanie Clark, and son-in-law, Bert. Vanessa adored her grandchildren, Brooklyn, Trenton, Mackenzie, Connar, Eli, and Ruby, finding immense joy in the warmth and laughter they brought into her life. In the company of her seven brothers, Jackie, Perry, Larry, Curtis, Tony, Travis, Darren, his wife Amanda, and her sister, Serrita, Vanessa's family was a source of strength and support, as well as her spouse, Stuart. Whether she was gardening, building something with her hands, or exploring the aisles of her favorite stores, Vanessa found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. May Vanessa Lynn Davis rest in peace, her memory cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. A memorial service with military honors will be held on Monday, November 27th, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Smith National Cemetery, 522 Garland Avenue, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Prior to the service, a visitation will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the River Glenn Chapel, 1805 North A Street, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Services are under the direction of River Glenn Cremation and Funeral Services.

Vanessa was a wonderful lady. Her warm demeanor and joy for life was obvious from our first meeting years ago. I was never a stranger. When I would visit her home, she was ready with a hug and a smile. She loved to laugh. Doted on my son. Showed compassion when I grieved my mother's passing. Gave me the best gardening advice.

Every spring, we would laugh as I stood in awe of the hundreds of hummingbirds that would visit her back porch, and she was always open with her "secret syrup" recipe that attracted them. When we fished at the pond, she always wanted to know if we had any luck. I saw the love she had for those around her, and there was a deeper lesson in watching her enjoy the little moments we too often take for granted. I will always think of her when I see a hummingbird. My sincerest condolences to Stuart, Bekah, Ruby, and all others who loved her in this life.
