Vanessa C. Norton, a beacon of light and love, passed into the Lord's arms on September 22, 2025, in San Antonio, TX, surrounded by the family she so cherished. Born on November 2, 1965, in Laurinburg, NC, Vanessa grew in grace and wisdom, embodying the Christian virtues that guided her life's journey.

Vanessa was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Kelbey Norton, and a nurturing mother to her children, Tyson, Jayla, and Jamiel Norton. Despite the loss of her own parents, Cliff and Geneva Breeden, and her siblings, Henry Spencer, Marshall Covington, Linda Breeden, and her beloved big sister Dannie Wilson, Vanessa's faith remained unshaken. She found strength in the bonds she shared with her sister, Lela Hursey, as well as the memories of those who had gone before her.

She was committed to her education, culminating in obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree from Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina. This achievement was not only for her own betterment but also served as a foundation for her distinguished career in service to her country. Vanessa proudly served as a Military Personnel Specialist in the US Air Force, a testament to her patriotism and dedication. Her career continued as a civilian with the Department of Defense. First as a Passport Technician, then as a Test Control Officer. Fulfilling her call to assist others, she served as the Program Support Assistant for the Military & Family Readiness Center at Lackland Air Force Base, where she was honored with an award for excellence and beloved by her coworkers.

Wherever she worked, Vanessa was cherished for her friendliness, generosity, and thoughtfulness. Her colleagues not only respected Vanessa for her professional excellence but also adored her for her warm demeanor and willingness to support others.

Vanessa's Christian faith was the cornerstone upon which she built her life, finding solace and strength in scripture and fellowship. She celebrated her Savior with every act of kindness. Every word of encouragement she offered was a true embodiment of her beliefs.

Her interests were simple yet profound; they were extensions of the love she had for life and for the joy of creation. Vanessa's kitchen was always filled with the aromas of lovingly prepared meals, and her laughter would echo in the hallways as she enjoyed funny baby videos on Instagram, reminding all who heard it of the delight found in innocent joy. Her one-of-a-kind love for classic movies was yet another unique trait of Vanessa's. Her joy in watching the films of that bygone era of style and class mirrored her own gentle and natural elegance.

Vanessa's life was a tapestry woven with the love of her faith, family, and friends. She was the epitome of a Christian woman, living each day with the intention of being a blessing to others.

Though her presence will be missed, her memory will continue to be a guiding light for all who had the privilege to know her. Vanessa Norton's legacy is one of love, service, and the enduring strength of faith. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she rests in peace with her Heavenly Father, rejoicing in eternal life promised to all who believe.

Vanessa, you surely will be missed. I have great memories with you and your family. One that stands out the most of you is when your beloved sister Linda used to get you sing, "Each A Good Breakfast Each Morning," lol your voice was such a delight! Rest in Peace dear Vanessa. You are Loved and Missed and never will be forgotten.
