Vastie Hamilton-McGreen Obituary
Vastie was proud of her time at J. L. Mann High School as a member of the class of 1981. It was after graduation that she furthered her education at Newberry College, Newberry, South Carolina. It was while at Newberry College that she answered the call to serve her country, enlisting in the United States Army, including her service in Southwest Asia, and receiving an honorable discharge.
She is survived by her loving and devoted children Thomas C. McGreen, Crystal D. McGreen, Latrice R. McGreen, and Marcus J. McGreen, all of Greenville, South Carolina; one brother, Attorney Ernest (Andreia) Hamilton of Greenville, South Carolina; and seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the residence.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Beasley Funeral Home-Greenville. The public viewing will be on Friday, May 16, 2025, from 10am-6 pm in the Chapel of Beasley Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow the service at Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church with military honor.

I knew Vastie, we grew up in the neighborhood. I used to take piano lessons from her sister Theresa as a child. My mom and Vastie's mom were friends. We all grew up in the Glenn Rd neighborhood. I knew Vastie from the J.L. Mann marching, pep, and concert band. She was always a sweet person in my interactions with her, with a good sense of humor and fun. She always practiced and played her parts well in performances, and I never knew her to say anything unkind about or to anyone. I am sorry she left us so early in life. And I'm sorry for her family's loss. Prayers and blessings to her family.
