Velda Steffek Obituary
Velda Jennie Williams Steffek, age 97 of Russellville, passed away Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026 at Dardanelle Regional Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 26, 1928, in Tatamagouche, Novia Scotia to the late John Matheson and Sarah Redmond Matheson. Velda loved her cats, working in her garden and traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Larry MacKay, sons-in-law, Jerry Gililland, Dick Gililland and the fathers of her children, Ivan MacKay and Pat McCool.
Survivors include her four children, Julie Gililland, Joan Gililland, Vaughn MacKay (Jolene), Pat MacKay (Lynn); special niece, Jayne Whittle; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today from 5-7 p.m. at Cornwell Funeral Home in Dardanelle. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Lower Spring Creek Cemetery in Belleville with Logan Ferguson officiating.
