Velinda Diane Green was born on April 22, 1959, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the first of seven children born to John and Racine Green. She attended school in Beckley, W.V. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Beckley, W.V., and was baptized at an early age.  

Velinda relocated to Columbus, Ohio where she pursued a career as a home health aide. She was well known for her kindness and never met a stranger. She was known for opening her home and welcoming many from West Virginia by providing food and shelter. She was the first member of the family to leave West Virginia and move to Columbus, Ohio. Her siblings supported her by moving to Columbus, Ohio, along with her parents.  

Velinda departed this life on February 13, 2025. Preceded in death by parents John and Racine Green. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Paula Green, Patrick Green, and Nyteria Green all of Columbus Ohio. Siblings, four sisters and two brothers of Columbus Ohio, Doretha (Duane) Hicks, John McCoy Green Jr., Raye Washington, Tammy Johnson, Charlotte (Adrian) Strickland, and Lamont (Nicole-Fiancé) Green. Twenty-four grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.  

Best friends 40 years old, Josephine Forney and Vicki Glover. Special friends Mary Hicks and Jermaine Patterson.  

Mom, you will always be in our thoughts and forever in our hearts.
