Velma Luella Crone Carpenter, age 73, passed away on October 30, 2025, at her home in Matthews, MO.

Velma was born March 28, 1952, to the late Donald Cephus Crone and Mary Ellen Kidd.

She married Randy Lee Carpenter on April 28, 1972, who survives of the home.

Velma was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved taking care of her children and grandchildren. She was a housewife most of her life, so she enjoyed pastimes such as cooking and gardening.

In addition to her husband, Velma is survived by three daughters, Tonya Michelle (Randle Scott) Hurt, April Renee Goodman, and Amanda Jean Carpenter; two brothers, Alden (Mary) Crone, and Donnie (Christy) Crone; one sister, Wisa (Kenneth) Worley; and grandchildren, Destiny, Justin, Alexandria, Logan, Felicity, and Andrew.

Including her parents she is preceded in death by two sisters, Becky Dukes and Tina Parks.

A public visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, beginning at 12:00 p.m. until time of the service at 2:00 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, MO. Johnny Hester of Shady Acres Church of Christ will be officiating the services.

Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Carpenter, Colen Carpenter, Dennis Brooks, Keith Albright, Jeff Turner, and Chuck Mays.

Ponder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
