Velma Cottrell Obituary

The Muhlenberg County native was born August 25, 1939 to the late Richard Lee Hill and Agusta Mae (Hart) Hill. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Melton Cottrell; her brother, James Hill; her sister, Jean Fleming; her niece, Deborah Ewing; and her nephew, Maurice Fleming.
She was a retired secretary for Muhlenberg County Schools.
Her survivors include her son, Rodney Cottrell (Suzanne); her sister, Elizabeth Herstek (Ray); grandchildren, Staff Sgt. Christopher Young, Jessica Thomas (Craig), and Alex Young (Meagan); two great-grandchildren, Lucas and Chloe Young; several loving nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Velma's memory may be made to Drakesboro United Methodist Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel.
