Velma Elekes

Val Elekes, 59, of Brooklet, Georgia, passed away peacefully in her home on December 3, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born June 1, 1966, in Alpena, Michigan, Val was the beloved daughter of Joseph and the late Mary Realy. She was the devoted wife of John D. Elekes and the cherished sister of Sandra (Rick) Schuler, Gail (Steve) Delaney, and Denise Realy.

Val was the proud mother of Amber Lynn Dunlap and Amanda Marie Dunlap, and stepmother to Jonathan Elekes. She was also a loving grandmother to Porsha Jade Wolfrum, Tessa Lynn Yeary, and Mateo Elekes.

Val worked as a dedicated Medical Assistant in Toledo and Savannah, where her compassion and professionalism touched the lives of many patients and colleagues. She later had the opportunity to live abroad in Hong Kong with her husband, where they shared memorable adventures before returning to Savannah, Georgia.

Known for her warm heart, love of animals, and caring spirit, Val was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and neighbor. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the company of her many beloved pets.

Val will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to your local Humane society in her memory.
