Velma Gagne was born on June 25, 1940, and passed away at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on June 21, 2023, with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of Albert and Margaret (Murray) Gould. She was the wife of Patrick Francis ‘Frank’ Gagne. They were married on December 23, 1983, and shared 39 wonderful years together.
After graduating high school, Velma attended White Mountain Community College for secretarial studies. With unwavering determination and a commitment to excellence, she graduated on the President's List.
Velma had a vibrant spirit that thrived in the natural world. Gardening, cooking, camping, and quilting were among her greatest joys. Her green thumb brought forth breathtaking blooms, while her culinary expertise delighted family and friends alike. Velma's biscuits and dill pickles were renowned and treasured by all.
Family held a special place in Velma's heart, and she cherished every moment spent in their company. Whether gathered around the dinner table, sharing stories by the campfire, or embarking on memorable adventures, the love and bond she shared with her family were unparalleled.
Velma's caring nature extended beyond her loved ones, as she devoted her time to making a difference in her community. Volunteering for Meals on Wheels and lending a helping hand to the Willing Workers in Sugar Hill, NH, exemplified her selflessness and compassion. Her dedication touched the lives of many, providing comfort and support to those in need.
She leaves behind cherished memories that will be held close to the hearts of her family and friends.
Velma was predeceased by her daughter, Susan Liston.
She is survived by her four children, Debbie Dufour, James ‘Jim’ A. Cyrs Jr., Kathleen Cyrs, and stepson, Kevin Gagne; 8 grandchildren: Lance Locke, Sarah Brown, Erin Apher, Jim Cyrs III, Pedro Caraballo, Sonia Caraballo, Dustin Gagne, and Matthew Mills; and 11 great-grandchildren: River Obrien, Patrick Locke, Kayla Locke, Kai Locke, Xavier Caraballo, Lilian Caraballo, Kevin Brown, Rori Gagne, Nicolas Apher, Tyler Apher, and Seth Apher.
A graveside service will be held on June 27, 2023, beginning at 1pm at the Riverside Cemetery in Lincoln, NH.
