Lucas & Son Funeral Home - PikevilleVelma Lindsey, a devoted homemaker and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 1, 2025, at the age of 98. Born on November 9, 1927, Velma lived a life filled with dedication, love, and service to her family and friends.
Velma leaves behind her daughters, Judy (Gary) Taylor and Sharon (Lynn) Coleman, and her sister Oudia Turner. Her family will remember her not only for her gentle spirit but for the countless moments of joy and wisdom she shared with them. Velma was a proud grandmother to three grandchildren, Michael (Elizabeth) Dotson, Cody (Trista) Allen, and Felecia Coleman Hall. She also leaves behind nine great grandchildren, Lindsey (Jarrod) Canada, Luke Chaney, Chase Dotson, Makaylan (Austin) Coleman, Clay Allen, Lawson Allen, Cody Harrison, Brandon Miller, and Megan Ratliff. A proud great-great grandmother, Velma also leaves behind, twelve great-great grandchildren, Waylon Dotson, Maveric Dotson, Frankie Canada, Brooks Coleman, Cody Dean Harrison, Cashton Harrison, Arielah Miller, Holly Miller, Molly Miller, Korey Brooke Estep, Macey Bowman, Evelyn Bowman.
Velma's strength and resilience stemmed from her deep roots in family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Henry Lee Lindsey, and her parents, Lector White and Rose White, as well as her siblings - William White, Junior White, Grace Hubbard, and Flossie White. The love within her family has always been the cornerstone of her life, nurturing generations to come. Her grandson, Mark (Trish) Chaney, also preceded her in death, leaving a significant mark of affection in the hearts of all who knew him.
Velma’s farewell will be honored with a visitation on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM at Lucas & Son Funeral Home, located at 2931 US Highway 23 S, Pikeville, KY 41501. A funeral service will follow on Friday, December 5, 2025, beginning at 12:00 PM, with burial following in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
As we remember Velma Lindsey, let us celebrate a life well-lived and the legacy of love she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who were fortunate to know her.
