Velma Spence, 103, of Lake George, MI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at her home with her beloved family at her side. She was born on September 4, 1922, in East Jordan, MI, the daughter of Clifford and Alma (Henderson) Justice.
On February 10, 1938 in East Jordan, Velma married Robert Henry Spence. Together they enjoyed the outdoors and often would go fishing in Ellsworth and catch their limit to feed their family and others. Velma lived a long blessed life. She was kind, hardworking, and adventurous. She enjoyed knitting, especially socks, reading, and her favorite ~ raising babies! Her family was very important to her and she loved watching her great grandsons Paul and Gabe play football and wrestle.
Surviving are her Grandchildren Don (Shawn) Frayer, Charlotte Frayer, Tim Frayer, Shannon (Troy) Anger, Stephanie Marckel, Shelly (Patrick) Styszko, 19 great-grandchildren, over 25 great-great grandchildren,3 great-great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, her children infant sons Robert Henry and George Clifford, daughter Barbara Ann Spence, son Daniel Lee Spence, daughter Shirley Kay Marckel, grandson Robert Jennings, siblings Perry, Charles, Catherine and Josephine.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00. She will be laid to rest in Dunsmore Cemetery following the funeral service.
