Vene Deminski Obituary

Vene LaVaun (DeMoss) Deminski, 98, passed away June 1, 2025, at the Senior Villages in Broken Bow, Neb.

Vene was born, along with her twin sister, May 15, 1927, in Almena, Kan., to Ivah Mae (Shaffer) DeMoss and Laverne Edward DeMoss.

Her dad worked for the railroad so they moved several times as she was growing up.

Vene graduated from Mascot High School.

After high school, she married Robert L. Estes. To this union two daughters were born - Kathleen Marie and Jerri Kay. They later divorced.

In 1952, she married Virgil (Bud) Deminski, and they moved to Cambridge where they spent the rest of their lives. To this union one son was born - Tracy LaVerne Deminski.

Vene attended McCook Beauty Academy, then worked at Brown's Beaty shop for about 10 years. She then went to work as a postal clerk for 22 years at the Cambridge Post Office until retirement.

Vene belonged to the United Methodist Church and was involved in the ladies group. She also belonged to the Legion Auxiliary.

She loved to play golf and bowl. She enjoyed playing cards, pinocle, pitch, 65 and bridge.

She knitted, made quilts and learned to paint through a class by Bob Ross.

She made the best bread, pies, cookies and cakes as well as cooking wonderful meals.

By the grace of God, she was able to continue to drive until she was in her 90's without a serious accident. To our relief, she decided on her own to stop driving.

Her greatest joy was spending time with family. It didn't matter how many of us there were, she made room and enough food for everyone.

She lived to meet all her grandkids, great-grands and her great-great-grands. The family was number one for her.

She is going to be greatly missed.

Vene was preceded in death by her parents; husband,Virgil (Bud) Deminski; son Tracy Deminski; twin sister and brother-in-law Jean and Vernon Ritterbush.

Vene is survived by her daughters - Kathy Salts (Jim) and Jerri Barber; daughter-in-law Connie Jones Deminski; brother and sister-in-law Richard DeMoss (Kristie); grandchildren - Tracy Salts (Cindy), Teresa Garcia (Rober Bath), Joshua Barber (Kiana), August Barber (Sindey), Nathan Deminski (Sherry), Katie Vollmuth (Matt); great-grandchildren - Alicia Jackson, Shayla Canas (Zach), Lane Salts, Ashley Garcia, Lance (Kaylee) and Keaton Garcia; great-great-grandchildren - Natalya and Brayden Sartin, Alijah Jackson, Eliie, Briar and Zachary Canas, Gianni Garcia-Wilcox, Ryann Garcia, Harvey, Lincoln and Morgan Garcia; many nieces; nephews; and good friends.

Cremation was chosen and memorial services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge with Pastor Tim Burke officiating.

Burial at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20.
