In Loving Memory of Venetta Demos Stathis
November 20, 1951 - July 30, 2025
Venetta Demos Stathis of Tucker, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at the age of 73. Though her physical presence has left us, her spirit vibrant, joyful, and full of love will never fade.
Born on November 20, 1951, in Atlanta, Georgia, Venetta was a radiant soul from the very beginning. She was the kind of person who could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them laughing or thinking deeply about life or both. She had a warmth that pulled people in and a generosity of heart that made them stay.
Venetta is survived by her loving children, Nicolas Fountotos (Cindy) of Scottdale, AZ and Despina Stathis (Jamie) of Wales, UK; her cherished grandchildren, Peri Fountotos, Alexander Benitez, Cillian Votier, and Tristan Votier; her devoted sister JoAnne Mertzanis of Tucker, GA and brother Steve Demos (Pam) of Carnesville, GA. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews: Dennis Mertzanis (Susan), Michael Mertzanis, Angela Scully (Edward), Jason Demos (Morgan), Callie Howington (Vaughn); her adored great-niece and nephews: Anthony, John, and Evi Scully, Nicholas Mertzanis, and Maeleigh Demos.
She now joins in eternal peace her loving parents, Pericles Nicholas Demos and Stavroula Becky Demos.
Venetta's life was a vibrant mosaic of experiences, friendships, and adventures. A proud graduate of Clarkston High School, Class of 1969, she spent her early career at Rich's and later with the Girl Scouts always drawn to places where people and purpose met. But it was at The Coca-Cola Company where she found her professional home, working from 1980 to 1996. Then, in a bold and beautiful chapter of her life, she followed her dream and moved to Athens/Katerine, Greece. There, she raised her daughter Despina and embraced her Greek roots with pride and passion until returning to the U.S. in 2009.
Venetta's passions were as colorful and heartfelt as she was: she adored her family more than words can express. She found joy in crystals and fairies, essential oils, crafting, delicious meals (especially from Old Hickory House and The Varsity), and long chats that could stretch into the night. She loved watching Friends, Blue Bloods, and anything with Bobby Flay and she never passed up the chance to have fun or make someone smile.
To try to sum up Venetta in one obituary would be impossible. She wasn't just a mother, sister, Yiayia, or friend she was a force of nature. Her laugh was infectious, her hugs were healing, and her wisdom had a way of arriving exactly when you needed it.
We could write volumes about her sparkle, her sass, her strength, and her unmatched ability to connect with people but the truth is, each of you carries your own story of Venetta in your heart. That's where she lives on. In the memories that make you smile. In the moments when you feel her near. In the love she gave so freely.
May her memory be eternal. And may we all keep a bit of her magic alive by loving a little deeper, laughing a little louder, and always making room for one more at the table.
