Vera Elizabeth Biehl, 93, of Mancelona, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Autumn House in Williamsburg, MI, surrounded by family. She was born on November 12, 1931, in Mancelona, the daughter of George and Ada (Spires) Reffitt.
Vera graduated from Mancelona High School and shortly after, she married Gerald Biehl in Mancelona. Together they ran the family’s turkey farm for many years until they retired in 1995. Vera was also a long-time member of the Kalkaska Church of the Nazarene where she often helped in any way she could.
Vera’s family was her number one priority in life, and she cherished any time she was able to spend with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking and baking cookies, bread, and pies. She baked many different types of cookies all year round, up to 7,000 in a year. She also enjoyed canning, crocheting, and quilting.
Vera is survived by her four children, Michael (Kay) Biehl of Mancelona, Joanne (Ron) Homan of Houghton Lake, MI, Carolyn (Rick) Grody of Mancelona, and Roger (Elizabeth) Biehl of Whitehouse Station, NJ; her brother, Ron (Donna) Reffitt of Kewadin, MI; her sister, Georgina Lather of Parma, MI; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald Biehl; her son, Kenneth Biehl, eight siblings; and two great-grandsons, Braylen Homan and Cameron Homan.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 6, at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, with Pastor Nancy Grody officiating. The burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mancelona Food Pantry and Resale.
