Vera Zona Doroff September 23, 1934 – October 16, 2025

Vera Zona Doroff, 91, of Cushing, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 16, 2025, at her home in Cushing.

Vera was born on September 23, 1934, to Hans and Marie (Hahn) Kronbeck in Little Falls, MN. She attended Rural School District #121 and graduated from Little Falls High School with the Class of 1952.

In 1954, Vera married the love of her life, James Doroff. Together they raised five children and built a life centered on family, faith, and community.

Vera worked as a receptionist at Stillwater Medical Center, a position she deeply cherished. Her warmth and kindness made a lasting impression on all who met her. She was an active member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Motley, where she belonged to St. Monica’s Circle. She was also involved in the Staples Lioness Club, Christian Women’s Organization, and the Scandia Valley Red Hat Club.

Vera loved reading, sewing, and spending time with her family at their home on Lake Alexander—her favorite place to relax and make memories with those she loved most.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James (2015); sisters Inez Kronbeck, Lola Coulter, Addie Kretzman, Neva Abrahamson, Joyce Kronbeck, and Gloria Dungan; brothers Russell, Wayne, and Alan; granddaughter Irene; and great-grandson Trenton.

Vera is survived by her children: Elizabeth (Randy) Mittag of River Falls, WI; Susan (Michael) Schmidt of Somerset, WI; Michael of Minneapolis, MN; David (Therese) of East Farmington, WI; and Thomas of Broomfield, CO; her brother, Ivar (Kathy) Kronbeck of Big Lake, MN; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her caregivers, as well as her niece—and her new best friend—Jane Mackey, for their care and companionship.

A Private Family Burial will be held.

Arrangements are entrusted to Halvorson Taylor Funeral Home, Brainerd.
