Mrs. Vera Mae Waters-Gaitor was born on August 17, 1930, in Lowell, Florida. Vera was the cherished daughter of the late John "Rabbit" Waters Sr. and Willie Mae Wright.

Her lifelong devotion to her faith was evident through her dedicated membership at Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Ocala, FL Inc.
Vera dedicated her professional life to serving others, working for many years as a cook throughout Marion County. Outside of her work, she cultivated a joyful spirit through her favorite pastimes: she loved the thrill of playing bingo and the tranquility of fishing.
On May 22, 1969, Vera entered into a blessed and enduring marriage with the late Deacon Wellington Gaitor Sr. in Ocala, Florida. Their beautiful union flourished for an inspiring 55 years.
Although she was not blessed with biological children, Mrs. Vera embraced the role of mother with boundless love, cherishing her five stepchildren as her own: JoEller Rhem (Jessie), Janice Reed (deceased) (Calvin), Wellington Gaitor Jr. (Jennifer), Rudolph Gaitor (Linda), and Vickie Gaitor. She also held a special place in her heart for her God Son, Elder Lorenzo Bethel (Shellian), and her grandson whom she affectionately called her son, Dennis Peacock.
Mrs. Vera Mae Waters-Gaitor departed this life on September 30, 2025. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents; her siblings, John "Buck" Waters Jr., Doris Wright-Shaw, and Theodore Waters; and her devoted husband, Deacon Wellington Gaitor Sr.
Her legacy of love, commitment, and faith will live on through her loving stepchildren and their spouses, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her gracious presence dearly.

Public Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 1:00 until 6:00pm at Summers Funeral Home, 2238 NW 10th Street, Ocala, Fl 34475.

Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 11, 2024, at 11:00am at Greater New Bethel Baptist Church, 612 NW 4th Place. Ocala, Florida, 34475.
