Vera Johnson Obituary Vera Clara Johnson, 99 of Valparaiso passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024. She was born January 21, 1925 the daughter of Richard and Merna (Haas) Scheel.
She is survived by her grand daughters Heather (Kevin) Gibson, Sarah Jansma, Lori Flesvig, Amy Johnson. Great grandchildren Tyler, Georgia and Kyra. Great great grandchildren Moses and Cataleya. Also surviving her niece Carolyn and great nieces Beth and Natalie
She was a Valpo resident for 63 years and was well known in the community for her interior decorating. For many years she had her own business, The Embassy House of Ideas. Some of her most memorable projects were the Inn at Aberdeen, Bartholomew Funeral home, several rooms at the United Methodist church of valpo, as well as her and her husband Earles Bed and Breakfast on Joliet Road. She had countless customers in and around Valpo who also reached out to her for updating 20 to 30 years later.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Valparaiso serving with the United Methodist Women and was the Aesthetic Committee chair. She and her husband hosted a bible study, Covenant Group for several years. She was a sorority member of Psi Iota Xi. She also served as Doll Club president for several years
On March 16th 1946 she married Earle Johnson.
She was proceeded in death by her husband Earle, son Richard and daughter Jacqueline.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 10-11 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Valparaiso. A funeral service will begin immediately after the visitation at 11:00 AM.
