Vera Holbert King

Vera Holbert King, 87, of Edneyville, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 14, 2026, surrounded by her family at the Elizabeth House. A lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Thursal Holbert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, Forrest King, in 2011; her daughter, Nancie Dowler; brothers, Reagan Constant, Marvin Holbert, and Harold Holbert; and a great-grandson, David Horace Tesnear, Jr.

Vera worked at Bon Worth and Belding Corticelli in her early years and later in life found great purpose in private caregiving. She loved her family deeply and spent countless hours doting on her grandchildren. She especially cherished time with her little babydoll, Lola. Vera had a passion for flowers and beautiful things, often sharing them generously with those she held dear. She enjoyed traveling and was a long-time member of Victory Tabernacle.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Bobbi Godman, and her husband, Ronnie, of Hendersonville; grandson, Brandon Godman, and his wife, Jordan, and their daughter, Lola, of Edneyville; grandsons, James Tesnear and his family, Robbie Dardas and his family, and David Tesnear and his family; siblings, James Holbert and his wife, Ruth, of Hendersonville; Raleigh Holbert and his wife, Deborah, of Mt. Holly, NC; Darlene Gallimore of Mt. Holly, NC; Linda Alwran of Mt. Holly and Sherman Holbert of Hendersonville. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Edna Holbert of Zirconia and Katheryn King of Hendersonville and special friends, Roxanne Rollins and Susan Morgan.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 20, 2026, in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Bishop officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Elizabeth House for the wonderful care they provided to Vera and to all of us during her stay. We are deeply grateful to the doctors and nurses for their exceptional medical attention and the compassionate support they offered throughout her time there.
