Vera Wilma Lain was born Vera Wilma Atchison in Cimarron, New Mexico on May 26, 1930 to her parents William and Eselda.

She was the second of three children (Della& Marvel). Shortly after high school, Vera married her high school sweetheart, Ansel Lain, in Raton, New Mexico on September 26,1948.

In January of 1950 the couple welcomed the first of four children. In 1953, the moved to Aurora, Colorado till 1958 at which time they moved back to Raton, New Mexico. In 1959 they moved to El Paso, Texas till the end of that year and finally settled in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Vera's husband Ansel drove a tractor/trailer for Sante Fe Trailways and then ABF Freight, while she raised and lovingly cared for the family.

Then in 1969-1972 Vera worked for New York Life Insurance Company as a receptionist. In 1974 she went to work for the V.A. Medical Center as an Administrative Assistant while still being a devoted wife and mother to us all. Then on October 30, 1980 she lost the love of her life. She continued working at the V.A. till 1988.

Vera had a couple of other jobs till she retired. She loved cooking, crocheting, taking care of her family and good laugh over coffee with friends and family. She always sacrificed her needs for the good of her family.

Vera will be remembered as a selfless wife and mother, who always had a smile, even when times were tough. She had a quiet strength, she never complained and always looked to a better future for us all. Vera never wavered in her Faith up until the very end.

Vera is survived by her sisters: Della Mae Butt and Marvel Thomson, her three sons: Roy Lain and wife Diane, Ken Lain, Dan Lain and wife Rebecca, and daughter Brenda Lain. She is also survived by grandchildren: Martin, Michelle, Joshua, and Ashley. Great grandchildren: Logan, Emyrsin, Royce, Elias and Regan.

She will be forever missed.

2 Timothy 4:7 says: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the Faith."
