Vera Leach passed away peacefully on May 15, 2024, at the age of 78 in Olympia, Washington. She was born in Newcastle upon Tyne in Northumberland, England, on August 9, 1945, to George and Edith (Bousfield) Wearmouth, and grew up in the towns of Crook and Bradford, West Yorkshire.
Vera loved classical music, would often join her father at his symphonic rehearsals, and studied piano at the Royal Academy of Music. After graduating school at 15, Vera worked at J. Woods & Sons music shop, where she met a U.S. soldier named Rennie who took her dancing and swept her off her feet. They married in England and moved to Whittier, California, soon after. They also lived in Eugene, Oregon, where Vera became a U.S. Citizen on July 4, 1976, during the bicentennial celebration. They moved their family of four to Lacey, Washington, in 1977.
Left to honor Vera and remember her love are her husband, Rennie; her children, Heather and Ron Sisson, and Rennie and Dani Leach; grandchildren, Jeff and Katie Sisson, and Andi and Cameron Leach; her chosen brother and sister, Ron and Kathy Sisson, Sr.; and many nieces and nephews. Vera joins her mother and father, and twin brothers in the Kingdom of Heaven.
She will be remembered as a loving, shining light who loved gifting handmade things and supporting others in her community and church.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 2, 2024, at Lacey Presbyterian Church, 3045 Carpenter Rd. SE, Lacey, WA 98503.
