Vergia Goldsberry

PORT GIBSON, MS: Funeral services for Vergia Mae Aikerson Conway Goldsberry, 81, who died Friday, October 10, 2025, at the Claiborne County Medical Center will be held at 10a.m, Saturday, October 18, at Greater St. Mark M.B. Church with Rev. James Jones officiating and Rev. Elijah Wilson will do the eulogy. Visitation will be Friday, from 1p.m. until 5 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home and Saturday from 9a.m. until service time at the church. Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Goldsberry was a member, Deaconess and Senior Matron at Greater St. Mark M.B. Church. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Assn., and Secretary of the Mississippi Baptist Assn., Claiborne County Branch. She taught school for 34 years with most of her time in the Claiborne County School District.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Aikerson and Harriett Wilson Aikerson; her husband, James Goldsberry; a brother, Barry Aikerson and four sisters, Marie Buck, Helen Banks, Esther Lee Aikerson and Janet Aikerson.
Mrs. Goldsberry is survived by a daughter, Chunda Monique Conway Wade (Dontrell) of Port Gibson, MS; a son, Jeremiah Goldsberry of Port Gibson, MS; a granddaughter, NaKerria Carpenter of Port Gibson, MS; two brothers, Rev. Elijah Wilson of Cibolo, TX and Patrick Aikerson of Port Gibson, MS; two sisters, Ethel Jean McBride of Port Gibson, MS and Clara (Robert) King of El Paso, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
