Obituary of Verlene A. Polick
Verlene A. Polick, 68, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away at home on Thursday, January 18th, 2024, with her loving family by her side.
Verlene was born in Amsterdam on June 9th, 1955, to the late Thomas and Eleanor (Close) Richards. She spent her childhood in Perth, NY and graduated from Perth High School. During her schooling she attended BOCES for nursing, where she became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Once she became an LPN, she began working for Mount Loretto Nursing Home in Amsterdam. She then worked for Amsterdam Memorial Hospital, and most recently at St Mary's Healthcare.
One of Verlene's favorite ways to spend her time was listening to music. Specifically, she loved live music and would always attend concerts when able. She was passionate about art, and enjoyed crafting, coloring, painting, and sewing. She adored going to the beach and relaxing under the warm sun. More than anything in the world, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.
She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Eleanor Richards; daughters Jennifer Canary and Jenelle Polick; son Sean Polick; and her former husband Paul Polick.
Verlene is survived by her partner of over 20 years Stanley A. Johnson; sons Jeremy Canary and Nicholas (Cari) Polick; grandchildren Abigail Williams and Andres Velez Jr; brothers Patrick, Michael, and Terrence Richards; sister Laurie (Jose) Pabon; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There will be a celebration of life on Verlene's birthday, Sunday, June 9th, 2024.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Verlene towards her grandchildren's college fund Gofund.me
