Verlyn "Butch" Harold Amborn, 79, of Black River Falls passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at Our Town in Tomah.
He was born on July 5, 1945, to Vernon and Merle (Letson) Amborn in Taylor, WI. He was united in marriage to Linda Nelson on March 12, 1998.
Butch worked a variety of jobs before starting with the BRF Street Department and worked there for twenty-seven years. There wasn't much he couldn't do with the grader, whether it was moving snow or laying a smooth patch on a street.
Away from work his pride and pleasure was in whatever Silverado he had at the time was apparent. He kept his trucks clean and shiny, and loved climbing up in the driver's seat to just go for a ride. Every summer he spent a week in Chetek, which was the highlight of the year. Getting out on the chain of lakes there, teaching Linda how to fish, and sometimes simply getting up on top of the water and racing across a lake, brought a happy grin to his face.
He's preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Merle; siblings, Leonard Amborn, Karen Iverson, Roger Amborn; brothers-in-law, Cecil Taylor and Lorren Iverson, and sister-in-law, Beth Amborn.
Butch is survived by his wife, Linda; children, Lisa (Myron) Wiza, Steven (Janell) Amborn; stepchildren, Apryl (David) McLean, Brad (Brittney Hoch) Nelson; grandchildren, Matthew Amborn, Hannah Wiza, Logan Wiza, and Holly Wiza, siblings, Marlene Taylor, Orville Amborn, Kevin Amborn (Howard Seiler), and LeRoy (Kim) Amborn, plus seven step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The celebration of life open house for Butch will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the American Legion Post #200 in Black River Falls.
