Vermelle Perdue Obituary
Vermelle grew up in Evergreen, Alabama where she met her husband of 65 years, Herston. After she retired from Southern Bell/AT&T, they opened Perdue's Pots and Plants on Pine Forest Road and were proud owners there for 40 years. Mrs. Perdue was a blessing to the thousands of loyal customers who would stop by to shop, browse, get advice on how to keep their plants alive, see the butterflies, or just visit with her. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and was baptized in 2010.
Known lovingly as Grandmom, her family was the priority for Vermelle, and she would do anything for them. She made sure her kids always had what they needed and would do whatever it took to make sure of it. Her legacy goes far beyond the years she lived- it lives on in the love she poured into her family, the sacrifices she made without hesitation, and the countless lives she touched with her kindness.
She is survived by her husband Herston, sons Wes (Vicki) and Steve (Sharon), daughter Tracy (Jim), grandchildren Chase (Devan), Brie, Trevor, Sydney, Shelby, Jada, great-grandson Beckett, brother Elmer (Ruth) Andrews, brother-in-law Sonny (Patsy) Perdue, and cousin Maxine Ross Johnson.
A visitation will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 10:00am until the service begins at 11:00am.

This was truly a gifted woman in so many ways. She provided me flowers and plants and great advice over the years that I will never forget. If you needed a cutting or a plant...she had it or would get from her own personal stock. Her family was always first and her "side" business. A very pleasant person to know. She will be missed by so many...I can't imagine passing by the business without having fond memories of our conversations and plant purchases. I didn't know until, today, that Tracy, you know my son, Scott Hall. Small world, hey? Love you and family. So glad to have known most of you. So sad, obit didn't go in newspaper, as you would have more memorials. Love,Gail Hall Rappa, from State Farm.
