We traveled with Vern and his bride about 15 years ago, in Europe. We really enjoyed them. In one of the former Soviet Union admin blogs -- converted to a fine hotel -- we dined with then a couple of times at breakfast and at supper. What fine, fine people. A bunch of "Call" men, living here in the Roseville, CA area, were shirttail relatives and we thought highly of anyone wearing the surname Call. The world was better because Vern was here. With condolences
We were deeply saddened to hear of Vern´s passing. Throughout his life,
he touched many with innate kindness and the empathy cultivated
through his experiences as an educator.
As we mourn his loss, we extend our heartfelt condolences from Japan,
praying for his eternal peace. In the near future, we hope to gather around
Mayumi-san to remember him fondly.
On behalf of the VanCott Society members,

My name is Dwayne Hansen. I worked with Vern for two years at Mound Fort Middle school as his assistant principal. We worked well together and we´re best of friends but I never did attempt to keep up With his ability to quickly assess a situation and think it through to a successful outcome.
Keep running the road Vern! It leads to eternal joy...
