Verna Lorene Course, age 83, of St. Johns, formerly of Marsyville, passed away December 24, 2024 in Sparrow Hospital in East Lansing.
She was born September 20, 1941 in Port Huron, daughter of the late Freeman and Margaret Herbert. Verna married Albert Course on March 27, 1959 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death 2007.
Verna was a member of the Community of Christ Church. She graduated from Port Huron High School. She worked for many years as a beautician, while raising her daughters. Verna also worked at Fred Stanley's market in Port Huron, and before retirement, she worked at Port Huron Hospital in the laundry department. Verna enjoyed working in her garden, loved her church and church family, her children and grandchildren, and was a very giving person.
Verna is survived by her daughter Rhonda Course of Montana and her daughters, Rainie and Roxie Setter, both of Montana; grandchildren, Erin and Jena McNulty of Lexington; brother, Dennis (Linda) Herbert of North Branch. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including Marci Balogh, who took such great care of her in her final days.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori McNulty, son in law, Mark McNulty, sisters, Janet Peters, and Jeannie Wynkoop.
A Memorial Service will be held 2 PM, Sunday, January 12 at Community of Christ Church in Croswell. Debbie Bigger will officiate.
Visitation will be from 1-2 PM prior to the service.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to Community of Christ Church in Croswell, or Maples of St. Johns, 2307 W. Rapids Rd., St. Johns, Michigan 48879.
