Vern Cragun
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Verna Cragun, born on November 21, 1925 in Nephi, Utah, and embraced by the arms of our Heavenly Father on May 20, 2024. An adventurous soul with a courageous spirit, Verna was a force of nature who left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Verna was a trailblazer, an ambitious woman in a world often too small to contain her dreams. She was one of the first women to be employed as an aircraft mechanic at Hill Air Force Base, diligently working on F-4 and F-16 aircrafts. This feat was not just a personal achievement, but a step forward for women in a field where they were rarely seen. Her compassionate nature extended beyond her professional life; she had the heart of a servant, always ready to lend a hand or extend kindness to those in need.
Verna's faith was a cornerstone of her life and a guiding light in her journey. As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served a full-time mission to England in her senior years and held many church callings in the Country Hills Ward. Her love for service was a living testament to her faith. As in Moroni 7:47 from the Book of Mormon which says, "But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with them," Verna lived her life as an embodiment of this love.
Verna is survived by her sons, Scott (Gay) Cragun, Corey (Lorraine) Cragun, and Bruce (ReNae) Cragun, 13 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son, Brent, her parents, Earl Clinger, Gladys Clinger and Lucille Holton.
A viewing will be held on Friday, 31 May 2024 from 9:30-10:30 am at the Country Hills Ward, located at 1401 Country Hills Dr., Ogden, Utah, 84403. Funeral services will follow at 11 am at the same location.
In celebrating Verna's life, we invite you to share your memories of her on her memorial page at www.myers-mortuary.com. Remember her adventurous spirit, her ambitious drive, her compassionate heart, and her unwavering faith. Let us remember Verna, not just for the life she lived, but for the lives she touched along the way.

May 30, 2024

When Verna was only about four months old. She was blessed with loving aunts and grandparents who helped raise her, but it must have been hard for her in those circumstances. But I believe she made the best of the situation and became a loving mother and wonderful woman.

Verna was always kind and considerate and fun to be around. We have had many good conversations with her about our families, our faith, and about life. She worked hard to help support her family and to teach them to be good. She had great faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ and shared her testimony with others in the family, with neighbors, and with the people in England.

We will miss her but look forward to seeing her, and other loved ones, again in the resurrection.

Love,
Alan and Deborah Glenn
