WHEN YOU HEA MY HOMECOMING, DONT WORRY ABOUT ME, I’M JUST ANOTHER SOLDIER, GOING HOME TO BE WITH THE LORD.   On Tuesday January 10, 1967, John Wallace Jackson, Sr., and Beatrice “Beede” Gregory Jackson welcomed their third child into the world. A beautiful baby girl they named Verna Sue Jackson. On December 22, 2023 Verna Sue was welcomed to her eternal home with her Lord and Savior.   Verna Sue grew up in New Edinburg, Arkansas. Later, in her young life, her mother moved her and her siblings to Holly Springs Arkansas. It was at that time that Verna accepted Christ at Faithway C.O.G.I. C.  under the leadership of Elder Thomas Walker Verna Jackson graduated from Bearden High School in 1985.   After, graduating Verna Sue landed her first job at Bearden Enterprises. Throughout, her adulthood she had various jobs which included: Ouachita County Medical Center, Camden Fairview School, Millcreek, General Dynamics, ARC and First Step in Fordyce until her health failed.    Verna Sue believed in sanitation that’s what led her to keep a spotless house. She would get her children up early every Saturday morning to clean from top to bottom while listening to R&B music.    On December 22, 2009,  Verna Sue changed her last name when she married Charles Morris. The couple remained married until his death on May 5, 2012. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Morris reunited at  Haven Gates on what would have been their 14-year wedding anniversary.    Verna Sue Morris later moved to Camden where became a member of Greater Grace C.O.G.I.C in Camden Arkansas under the leadership of Elder Ryan Utsey. She later reunited at her home church which is now New Faithway C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of Superintendent Terry Williams Sr., until her death.    In her spare time, she enjoyed the company of her family and close friends.  She loved to go out to eat. She loved to entertain, especially with her Facebook status. Verna particularly loved the competition associated with playing cards and traveling to the casino. Her daughters referred to her as “Channel 7” because she always knew the latest news. Verna will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to being a jokester and “tell it like it is” woman.   Above all, Verna Sue enjoyed being “Granny” she adored and spoiled her grandchildren. “In her eyes they never did anything wrong “   She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Morris; her siblings, Brenda Kaye Hughes, and John "Badd" Jackson Jr, a granddaughter, Paris Smith, and two nieces, Shymaine Watts and Serenity Jackson.   Verna will be forever cherished by her five children, Bryant Jackson of Columbia, MO, April Jackson of Fordyce, AR, Courtney Jackson of Bearden, AR, Samantha (Michael Jr.) Lovelace of Bearden, AR, and Veronica “Pye” Jackson of Camden, AR; her beloved grandchildren, Jeremiah Wright, Michael Lovelace, III., Arriyal Higgins, Caylee Jackson, Mahki Lovelace, Auviah Washington, Heaven Jackson, Elijah Smith, and Denvyr Harris; one sister, Wanda Jackson of Bearden, AR; brothers, Steve (Brenda) Jackson of Las Vegas, NV, Maurice (Jackie) Jackson of Bearden, AR, and Andre (Luciana) Jackson of Bearden, AR and a special aunt, Ester Gregory of Bearden, AR.
