Verna Mages Obituary

Verna Kuhn Mages, life-long resident of Lindsay, passed away peacefully in Gainesville, on March 7, 2026 at the age of 89. She was born September 30, 1936 to Frank Peter and Rosa Marie (Kuntz) Kuhn in Lindsay.

Verna was a devoted member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and a loving wife and mother. She married Norbert Mages at St. Peter’s on April 7, 1956.

Mrs. Mages is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Lisa Mages and Richard McCandless of Newtown, CT; daughter Melinda James of Lindsay; nieces and nephews Chris and Amy Kuhn, Todd and Julie Kuhn, Scott and Jamie Pulte, Kelly and Victor Peschke. Great nieces and nephews include: Tyler Kuhn, Chance Kuhn, Kayln Pulte, Henry Peschke, Joan Peschke. She is also survived by sister-in-law Hank Dieter and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Chubby and Jerome Voth.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norbert; brother Leslie Kuhn, sister Joan Pulte; son-in-law Gary James; brother-in-law Edgar Mages; sisters-in-law Louise Schmidlkofer, Clara Schmitz, Polly Pelzel, and Albina Schmitz.

A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM Thursday, March 12, 2026 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. John Martin officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery. A rosary followed by a visitation will be held starting at 6:00 PM on Wednesday at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Pallbearers for the service are Scott Pulte, Victor Peschke, Mark Kuntz, Chris Kuhn, Richard McCandless, and Jeff Dieter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter https://noahsarktx.com.
