Verna Ruth Moore, age 87, of Daisy, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023.
She was born on February 9, 1936, in Daisy, the daughter of William and Addie Sweeden Epperson. On October 22, 1960, she was married to the true love of her life, Royce Moore, who preceded her in death on February 9, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Lloyd Epperson, Hiram Epperson, Horace Epperson, Earnest Epperson, John Epperson, Joy Epperson, Louise Epperson, Pearl Roberts and an infant sister; her grandson, R. J. Burton; and her granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Penrod.
Verna attended the Daisy Church of Christ, where for most of her life she faithfully served her church in every way she could and she dearly loved her church family. For over thirty years, Verna worked in the banking industry. She enjoyed fishing, and playing cards and dominoes with her children. Verna was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who loved her family with all her heart, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Verna shared a special bond with her granddaughter, Ashley, who became her cherished constant caregiver, and her great-granddaughter, Hadley, and the three of them were inseparable.
Verna's greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her, but she has left many cherished memories for her family to carry on in their hearts forever.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Brad and Donna Moore of Pittsburg, Texas, Kelley and Patricia Moore of Nashville, Sandy Burton and Lesha and Mike Bell, all of Daisy; her grandchildren and their spouses, Brandon and Brianna Moore, Braden and Tia Moore, Laiken and Preston Richardson, Taylor Moore, Jacob Brown, Matthew Brown, Kevin Burton, Tiffany and Rustin Ledbetter and Andrew Hilton; her great-grandchildren, Lezlie Moore, Kynton Moore, Preslee, Paislee, Lillee, and Layton Richardson, Finnley Brown, Braxton Harris, Ledger Ledbetter and Hadley Penrod; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, October 9, 2023, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Roger Cox and Harold Vaughn officiating.
Visitation will be held Sunday, 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood, 209 North Third Street, Glenwood, AR 71943.
Interment will be in the Midway Cemetery, near Kirby.
Pallbearers will be Charles Yeargan, Ray Huff, Russell Young, Preston Richardson, Mike Haggard, Eugene Whisenhunt, Jeff Epperson and John Maines.
