BOWLING GREEN -- Verna A. Speck, affectionately known as Ann, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on July 27, 1929, in Ohio, she lived a full life dedicated to her family and community.
Ann was the cherished daughter of Pearl and Verna (Berno) and a beloved wife to her late husband, Joseph M. Speck. She was also predeceased by her son, Joseph A. Speck.
A devoted mother, Ann is survived by her daughters, Cheryl and Vicki, who carry on her legacy of love and resilience. She was a proud homemaker who found joy in caring for her family and creating a warm, welcoming home.
Ann was a remarkable woman, celebrating over 35 years as a breast cancer survivor. Her strength and determination inspired those around her. She devoted her time to volunteering at the Wood County Museum, where she played an active role in organizing delightful tea parties. Ann liked to putter around in her garden, enjoyed taking walks with her daughter Vicki and loved basking in the beauty of warm sunny days outdoors.
A private burial will take place at a date to be determined at Dowling Cemetery.
Contribution in Ann's honor may be gifted to the Wood County Historical Museum or Bridge Hospice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Deck-Hanneman Funeral Home, Bowling Green. www.hannemanfuneralhomes.com.

Dear Vicki and Cheryl: I am so upset to have missed a time delivering your mother's meal! She was a delight to me...even her teasing personality made me want to tease her more! I will definitely miss that little "ball" of fluff!
