Verne Sinopoli Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel on Oct. 28, 2025.

Verne Sinopoli, 82, was reunited with his wife, Jan, on October 22, 2025. A man of quick wit and charming dimples, Verne spent his life caring for others, both two- and four-legged alike.
Diagnosed several years ago with Parkinson's Disease, Verne approached the challenge with curiosity and determination, learning all he could in hopes of finding the right mix of medicine and movement to stay active. In the end, he passed peacefully at Aultman's Compassionate Care Center in Canton, having lived a well-loved life.
Born on July 5, 1943, Verne was deeply patriotic and proud of his service as a U.S. Army lieutenant during the Vietnam era, stationed in Karlsruhe, Germany. With a degree in Finance from the University of Akron, he managed troop payroll with precision and pride. He was able to trek through Europe during his time overseas, connecting with ancestors in Spain and sending home cuckoo clocks to everyone in the family.
After returning home, Verne worked for Nationwide Insurance until a spur-of-the-moment idea from Jan-to buy a dog boarding kennel-changed everything. Together, they owned and operated Sugarbush Kennels in Canton, a venture that became both their livelihood and joy.
In retirement, the couple settled at Willowdale Lake, where Verne joined the Men's Club and could often be seen walking his beloved boxers around the neighborhood. When he later moved to a condo community, his loyal companion became a sweet indoor cat named Willow.
Most recently, Verne called Greenview Senior Assisted Living home, where he quickly won over both staff and residents. Known for blasting his Saturday Night Fever CD on his trusty boombox, Verne loved to dance-his own brand of disco-walker or not. He also had an incurable sweet tooth, never passing up dessert or tasty treats from visitors.
The family is deeply grateful to the Greenview team for their kindness, and care. Verne adored the girls who looked after him, the Activities crew who kept him busy, and the folks in the kitchen and dining team-who indulged his ice cream cravings.
Verne was preceded in death by his wife, Jan on December 13, 2024; his parents; his beloved Aunt Julia Prats; and his brother, Vincent Pisano. He is survived by his sister, Rosemarie Castner; cousin, Judi Christy (and family); life-long friend, Art Kauffman; and his devoted driver and treat provider, Carol Campbell.
A devout Christian, Verne was certain that heaven had room for laughter, pets, and good music. So, picture him with Jan and their pups, hanging out with J.C. and His angels and quite possibly dancing to "Staying Alive."
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Reed Funeral Home NORTH CANTON (801 Pittsburg Ave NW, North Canton, OH 44720) with a graveside service to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery (2580 Romig Rd, Akron, OH 44320).
