Vernon (Vern) Robert Haffner passed on November 11th. He was born August 20th, 1938, to John Andrew Haffner and Agnes Louise Cantrell Haffner.
A remarkable life had begun. As a noticeably young, man he joined and traveled with a Trampoline Acrobatic Troupe called "The Olympiairs". They performed across the country including The New York State Fair and Big Top TV shows. After leaving the Troupe he returned to graduate from Willamette High 'School in 1957.
Vernon's artistic/creative genius took hold, and he began with store window displays and visual merchandising at The Bon Marche,' and eventually emerged as the Design Director for the visual merchandising corporation Susan Crane, in Dallas, Texas. He traveled the world as a buyer for major department stores doing business in China, England, Taiwan, etc. He eventually settled back in Eugene, where he established himself as a key vendor at the former Oregon Antique mall.
In addition to Vern's zest for the finer things in Life, the Arts, possessing an impeccable eye for the original and unique,...he loved his house, gardening, visiting museums, galleries, and so very much, much more.
He is survived by a brother Gerald Haffner (Joyce), his nephew Randall Haffner (Nikki), nieces Sally and Sadie, and countless friends, colleagues, associates, and those whom Vernon touched and influenced.
Vern was preceded in death by his partner of 30 years Clifton Bartlett and his partner of 15 years Michael Pittman.
To honor Vern, he would ask that you find some happiness every day.
