Vernon L. Yoder, age 66, of Colon, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Vernon was born on November 7, 1958, in Sturgis, Michigan, a son of the late John H. and Fannie (Helmuth) Yoder. He lived most of his life in the Colon area. Vernon worked at Vanguard in Colon and Jayco in Middlebury.
On October 19, 1978, Vernon married Rhoda Ann Miller in Albion, Michigan. They shared 46 years of marriage.
Surviving Vernon are his wife, Rhoda Ann Yoder of Colon; his son, Nathan J. (Katie) Yoder of Colon; his daughter, Laura J. Yoder and special friend Steven Bontrager of Colon; and his grandchildren: Vernon J. Yoder and special friend Mary Hochstetler, Mary R. Yoder, Calvin J. Yoder, Kevin E. Yoder, and Jenna F. Yoder. He is also survived by his siblings: Glenn (Emma) Yoder of Centreville, Alma (Pete) Bontrager of Colon, Marvin (Sylvia) Yoder of Colon, Sylvia (Orva) Mille of Topeka, John (Anna) Yoder of Nappanee, Mary K. (Joas) Kauffman of Colon, and Norman (Loretta) Yoder of Burr Oak; as well as his stepbrothers: Lynn (LaVerta) Bontrager, Merle (Anna Mae) Bontrager, Vernon (Arlene) Bontrager, and Lloyd Bontrager.
Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, John and Fannie Yoder, and his stepfather, Harry Bontrager.
The Yoder family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM, and again on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM. A funeral service, officiated by home ministers, will take place on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 9:30 AM. Interment will follow in Old Order Amish Cemetery. All services, with the exception of the interment, will be held at the CYC Building, located at 59321 Nottawa Road, Centreville, Michigan 49032.
