Verona Colar Whitehurst, 64, of Durham, formerly of Fayetteville, passed away on Tuesday. June 06, 2023 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 12 noon at Herring Funeral Care & Cremations Chapel.
She is survived by her husband, Efrem Z. Whitehurst of the home. Her children, Shavona E. Chambers of Knoxville, TN and Ciara L. Carter of Monroe, NC. Sisters, Joyce E. Bryant of Fayetteville, Debra C. Akins of San Leandro, CA and Linda C. Rascoe of Raleigh. Brothers, Rudy Colar of Oakland, CA and Tyrone Colar of New Orleans, LA.
A viewing will be held on Saturday from 11am-12noon at the funeral home, prior to the services.

To the Family:
I can still remember Verona from school and the neighborhood. We grew up together in North Hills and
attended elementary school together. I have nothing but fond memories. I am saddened, and offer my condolences to the Family.
