Veronica C. Headley

HERKIMER – Veronica C. Headley, 80, of East Steele Street, died on August 25, 2021 at FoltsBrook Center, Herkimer, where she had resided for the past nine months.
Mrs. Headley was born on August 7, 1941 in Sussex, NJ, a daughter of the late Warren and Charlotte (Crane) Drake. On June 29, 1958, Veronica was united in marriage with Samuel A. Headley in Unionville, NY. The couple had owned both dairy and chicken farms and operated the former Headley's Country Store in Burlington Flats for a few years. Veronica had also worked as a waitress and receptionist and was last employed in the cafeteria at the former Country Manor in Herkimer. The couple had resided in Herkimer since 2003 and enjoyed motorcycling for many years. Veronica's influence with the raising of her grandchildren will be fondly remembered by her family.
Survivors besides her husband of 63 years, Sam, include two daughters, Karen (Dominick) St. Pierre of North Charlestown, NH and Kim (Wesley) Lynch of Middleville; two brothers, Warren Drake of Unionville and Charles Drake of Ellenville; one sister, Elaine (Arthur) Stevens of Dolgeville; a sister-in-law, Linda Drake of Unionville; four grandchildren, Adam and Isiah St. Pierre and Heidi and Justin Lynch; five great-grandchildren, Aiden Annutto, Jemma and Brailey Lynch and Finley and Cordelia St. Pierre; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Veronica was predeceased by two brothers, James and Edward Drake; and two sisters-in-law, Judy and Helen Drake.
Funeral services will be held at the Autenrith Funeral Home, Newport on Tuesday at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in Middleville Rural Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the service on Tuesday commencing at 11:00 a.m.
